When social media platforms began clamping down of fake stories circulating on platforms such as X (formally Twitter), Facebook and YouTube. Additional software was implemented to verify whether or not posts that had been uploaded were actual fact and not fiction.

Many voiced their opinions about this, including the current President of the United States, who decided he wasn't going to be censored and launched a rival platform 'Truth Social'.

This platform became the new app where you could say anything you like and it wouldn't be flagged as fact or fiction. To date (March 2026) there is currently over 6 million users. A fraction of users compared to Facebook (3 billion users) and X (hundreds of millions users). About 88% of users are Republicans or right-leaning, with 66% of people getting their news from Truth Social.

Truth Social is one of the most politically one-sided major social platforms, with a majority of its news being identified as propaganda/fake news. Many will deny this, and when we say 'many' we mean 88% of its users including the man behind the platform Mr Donald Trump. We also found on other platforms that if anyone contests propaganda/fake statements made on other platforms by Donald Trump and his Republican team/supporters. They are subject to abusive and bullying remarks. Something the authorities in the US, at present, have no issues with. But if someone makes aggressive comments directed at Trump or a member of the Republican party, they could be subject to arrest by police or the FBI.
We also found members of the US Armed Forces, who supported Trump, were also abusive to those giving their opinion, regarding fake news with one soldier proudly boasting about what he did during his service in two wars, for which he claimed, 'would make you piss your pants' during an altercation on X. In the UK, this could be seen as a breach of confidential information, as one person in the online argument stated and was told 'they were full of shit' by the abusive US soldier for failing to provide similar information to prove his 'manly' status.

These attitudes towards others is proof how damaging propaganda material can be. The world has witnessed such behaviour before and will continue to do so, as these dangerous individuals aren't prevented from taking control and know how to manipulate the weak minded or the desperate. Truth Social is evidence of this, with 70% of its 'news' being confirmed as fake news and the remaining 30% as fact, because its been taken from reliable independent sources.

So why are these people is still in power and haven't been impeached for their behaviour?
Its down to many factors from lack of evidence to being too intimidating towards the people. People like Trump believe they are above the law, and prove this by changing laws to suit their requirements. For example, Trump has hinted at changing the rules so he can run for a third term, something no past President has been able to do. Russian president Putin has those who run against him in the elections either arrested or assassinated to ensure a clean sweep and a continuous term in power. Unless the general public and/or authorities turn against these people, like many have done in other countries. It will continue to happen and these dictators will do what they want.

As for platforms such as Truth Social still being allowed to continue its spread of propaganda. Nothing can be done as its not deemed illegal in the United States and as long as Donald Trump is President, this won't change anytime soon.
